What I've Learned This Year:
1. How to write a solid essay.
When you're writing any type of paper in AP Lit it's important to remember, push the WHY the author chose to do use descriptive detail rather than just how they did it.
My favorite line:
"When George Lucas adapted the Star Wars series, he wrote it with the knowledge that tragic heroes are easily relatable, therefore the audience would have a better connection and feel what the characters were feeling." |
2. Even though it was an AP, it was LIT.
“that warm, sunny, Saturday, August afternoon, I was laying on the smooth, soft, sand, listening to the cool breeze and the water of Lake Michigan crash against the shore.”
"It was the day of my 17th birthday." |
Although it was an AP class, I did multiple projects that weren't necessarily "formal" projects.
|
3. Seminar circles ARE helpful.
I learned a lot of things I didn't notice myself from seminar circles, they aren’t something you typically do in a lot of other classes, although it was pretty much just a class discussion, but you got to hear everyone else’s thoughts/or specific things they noticed while reading.
My future goal is:
After discovering an abundance of great treasures while down under the sea, I started to wonder where I will be next year with reading and writing? I know that I'll be taking English while at Ferris, so my main goal for college is to always write spectacular essays, by making sure to include more why than how within papers, as I now know how important that is.
